Being joyful is a choice

If you are not joyful, then that is a choice you make. You have to take control of your life and the decisions you make. The bible tells to “rejoice always” in 1 Thessalonians 5: 16. Many believe money can buy happiness, but this may not always be true. Often, these people are unhappy with their daily routines and the sacrifices they make for financial gain. We tend to idolize those who possess everything we desire, striving to live a similar lifestyle. Happiness comes from within and being joyful is a decision you have to make.

Happiness is subjective

There are things in life that can make you happy that are subjective. They are subjective because happiness comes differently for everyone. You might find joy and happiness-seeking thrills through rides like roller coasters and bungee jumping. This thrill may be more than torture for someone with a fear of heights, who would never step on a roller coaster or be brave enough to jump from a bridge suspended by a bungee cord. Everyone seeks happiness in their own way. There is nothing wrong with the things that you find joyful. People may call you crazy, but that is because of subjectivity.

Naturally happy

Some people are naturally happy. It is a proven genetic disposition. It does not mean that you were born to be miserable if you are not naturally joyful. Genetics influences happiness but is not a determining factor. It is possible to change your thoughts and feelings, even if you are not someone who naturally feels happy. The key is to change the way your brain thinks and your behavior. You can learn to do things daily to bring up your happiness level, which will help you learn to smile more and be happier.

Sleep

Getting enough sleep is crucial for maintaining happiness in one’s life. The body requires a good night’s rest to function at its best, both physically and mentally. When we don’t get enough sleep, our mood can be affected, leading to irritability and unhappiness. Moreover, lack of sleep can hinder our ability to think clearly and make rational decisions. It is important to note that getting 8 hours of sleep may not necessarily mean that you are well-rested. Oversleeping or improper sleeping habits can still leave us tired and drained the next day, impacting our happiness levels. Hence, it is essential to prioritize quality sleep by establishing healthy bedtime routines and ensuring we get adequate hours of rest each night.

Exercise

Exercise is very good for the body and it helps the brain put out endorphins which are responsible for making you happy. Exercise is important for total health. This doesn’t mean that you have to be on a heavy exercise routine daily. However, you should try to sweat everyday. You can get an amazing exercise but just cleaning the house and doing normal household chores. This isn’t about losing weight. It is about creating happiness.

Being joyful is a choice

Being joyful is an attitude of the heart and a decision you make to always be positive and thankful in every circumstance.

1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
